MONSTERS

Tragedy plus time equals some of the greatest jokes ever told. Monsters captures both; Killer punchlines and the trauma lurking behind the laughs.

gabby lamb

I discovered Gabby Lamb online via the Laugh Factory’s Youtube channel and instantly fell down a rabbit hole full of unbridled wonderment. Gabby is one of those rare comedians you find that just has a natural way of storytelling that makes you automatically feel like you are two old friends catching up, trading war stories about the debaucheries of life. This episode focuses on Gabby’s struggles with addiction, her journey with sobriety and self healing.

OMID SINGH

I met Omid Singh while I was playing at Brad Garrett’s legendary comedy club in Las Vegas.  Omid’s timid yet poised demeanor on stage is equally matched with his perfectly written punchlines. I’ve watched Omid do 30-40 min sets before and honestly, it’s like watching someone do five Tonight Show sets in a row. Each joke is perfectly wrapped with a bow and delivered delicately yet somehow feels off the cuff at the same time. Not only do I admire his work on stage, but we are also bonded in grief; we are both a part of the dead dads club. This episode focuses on Omid’s journey with grief after losing his father, the cultural procedures behind the funeral and what has helped him keep moving forward while grieving. Enjoy.

JENNy zigrino

Jenny Zigrino is one of my oldest friends in comedy. Since meeting her at my old home club (Morty’s Comedy Joint - Indianapolis, IN) Jenny has went on to be one of the sought after and consistent voices in comedy. You probably know her from one of her many sets on the Conan O’Brien Show, her own Comedy Central Show “Badass Bitches of History” or her starring role in the film, “Bad Santa 2”. Jenny is also politically active and very outspoken on a lot of topics but the one she champions the most is, ‘Body Neutrality’. This episode focuses on Jenny’s struggles with self-image, the battle of body positivity and how you can make a change in your own life. Enjoy.

j.c. currias

J.C. Currais is a wrecking ball of energy. You may know J.C. from his recurring role as Gator on the Disney Channel’s show, “Just Roll with It” or his late night apparence on the Conan O’Brien Show. J.C. is an immensely engaging storyteller that once you lock your eyes on him, you can’t look away. Born into a family that knows how to party, J.C.’s parents taught him how to properly balance working hard and playing hard. “Growing up, I knew my parents were doing drugs and drinking but they both went to work and were active in the community.” J.C. admitted to me during our talk. Watching his parents and other adults be able to balance both worlds helped shape his own work ethic and as he got older he did the same. This episode focuses on J.C.’s fun and balanced journey with drugs, the hard work that has landed him on multiple television shows and films and stepping up in the family after the sudden loss of his father. Enjoy.

MELISSA SHOSHAHI

Melissa Shoshahi found her comedic voice during the pandemic and it sounds a lot like her fathers. Melissa has been gaining a major following on Tik Tok and Instagram doing characters that are pulled from her own parents. In 2021, she took her fake mustache and some of her father’s mannerisms on stage and killed in a completely different way than she’s used to. This episode focuses on family, the cultural background that’s influenced Melissa’s comedy so much and of course, character work. Enjoy!
